Years ago, Varn and I started going to a church that we ended going to about twenty years. We still love that church and the people in it. When we started going the Lord put us on the fast track in serving in a lot of the departments. It wasn’t a political thing. We obeyed the Holy Spirit’s leading when he instructed us to leave the jail/prison ministry, we so dearly loved.

He commanded to go and give stronger focus to the local church ministries. So, jumped in full force, volunteering wherever there was a need. We had this intensity in jail ministry. So we brought it with us when we came to this church. I don’t know if you know it or not your zeal can make others uncomfortable. Well apparently, quite a few got uncomfortable.

We began to receive persecution because of our serving. Some things went down. We were offended but doing our best to walk it out. For we knew God had sent us to be a help in the church. Some time passed and things had somewhat quieted down. One of the men who had really led the way in persecuting us walked by. The Spirit of God said, “Let by gones be by-gones. Let it go.” I said Hon, the Holy Spirit just said let bygones be bygones. He said, “What do you think he’s talking about?” I said well so and so just walked by; I think he’s talking about him. To make a long story short, we did that. And the man and us became great friends. We enjoyed a genuine relationship.

I told that because a part of the disagreement and misunderstanding for us, was that we operated in the same intensity in business and well as ministry. We were being told by some of the priests of the house, you should just go full force in business. Stay in your lane, you can’t be both. We never openly disagreed but it never bore witness with our spirit. We would go to the Lord and ask, do you want us to give up our business and just focus only on ministry. It was like the Holy Spirit would whisper, why not do them both? I’ve called you to both.

We had an anointing for business. Then we would receive grief from the kings, why don’t you just go do ministry? You have an obvious ministry calling and gift. We saw God work so many miracles while at work, while at church, while feeding the poor and everywhere we went. But again, we never received the release to give up on either side.

So, that’s what my sermon is about today. My text is from Revelation 5:10 And have made us kings and priest to our God. And we shall reign on the earth.

I preach the gospel of the kingdom. Remember, it’s Father God’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom. Jesus taught us to pray, “thy kingdom come, thy will be done in heaven and earth.” The kingdom is about what Jesus did to save sinners. He said that unless a man is born-again_a new birth can only come through hearing the gospel preached. 1 Pet. 1:23 And you know, without it we can not enter the kingdom of God. Job 3:5

Again, writer Matthew in 24:14 and the gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love. -Colossians 1:13

1.Acknowledge the kingdom of God and his anointing of king and priest. Through Christ Jesus it is available to us all. There are several pictures of the dual anointing in one person. We’ll start with Genesis 14:18 Then Melchizedek, king of Salem brought out bread and wine–since he was king of Salem and also priest of the Most High God. As king he brought provision to weary warriors Abram and his war party.

2. Know Melchizedek imparted the blessing as priest. In Genesis 14:19 He blessed him and said, ‘Blessed be Abram of God Most High., Possessor of heaven and earth. And in Genesis 14:202 And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand. And Abram gave him a tenth of all.

3. Beware of putting others in God’s spot as source. Don’t look to other people to do what only Father God can do. Remember, God is a jealous god and he won’t share his spot with anyone else or anything else.

4. Receive Melchizedek as a type of Christ. He was yet another figure and shadow of the coming king and priest, Jesus. In Hebrews 7:1 Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of the Most High God. He met Abraham and blessed him when Abraham was returning from defeating the four kings.

Then Hebrews 7:2 And Abraham apportioned to him a tenth of everything. First his name means king of righteousness. Then also, king of Salem meaning king of Peace.

5. Remember God’s Unchangable Promise through Jesus. Hebrews 6:30 Where our forerunner, Jesus has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 3:1 Therefore holy brethren who share in the heavenly calling set your focus on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess.

Furthermore, Hebrews 5:6 And in another passage God says, You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.
