3 Majestic Reasons to Get To Know Heavenly Father More and More
Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them drift away…How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation… –Hebrews2:1-4
Greetings Saints! My prayer is this week that God would grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation that you may know the heavenly Father more and more.
Back in the first few months of the Pandemic, the tragic Kobe Bryant helicopter crash and few months before my step-son’s murder. The first one of that year. I along with many of us were grappling with why? I heard many well-meaning, it was God’s will that he die. His time was just up. He was…I was so hurt and angry. I was already speaking.
So, I sought God on what he was saying about it so I could be comforted and share comfort with others that were and had already suffered losses with little understanding or comfort in the matter. I cried out and my listeners cried out. I began to say it was not God’s will that my son be murdered at 35 never reaching 40 and here’s why I think this way.
Father, began to pour to me. It’s where the Heavenly Hedge, Biblical Angelology and Proceed to the Route came from. I taught about it’s not supposed to be our portion to be cut off suddenly. There are blessings for the just and unjust that are commonly enjoyed… Which leads me to why I’m talking about this week. Father God doesn’t want us to slip or drift by our important life changing choices or opportunities. It behooves me to call attention to this in our lives.
What does it mean to heed? Heeding as defined by Webster is to pay attention, give consideration or to mind. There are times when the Lord will speak to us via the Holy Spirit and through the scriptures to pay attention, listen and believe that which He has spoken to us in our heart, mind and spirit.
- God’s Great Salvation Plan – Hebrews 2:1-4
Your life matters to God. He didn’t create life to destroy it. The writer of 2 Samuel 14:14 puts it like this, “We must all die; we are like water spilled on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again. But God will not take away life, and he devises means so that the banished one will not remain an outcast.
Our spiritual ancestors peered wondrously into the future trying to imagine what it would be like when Father God fulfilled his promise of things they prophesied like his great salvation and the pouring out of his Spirit upon all flesh. For the Jewish people, they tried to imagine a day when the Messiah would come. The word of God says even the angels were and are eagerly watching God’s plan unfold. 1 Peter 1:10-12
As humanity we all have preconceived notions about God and his wonders. And we all have a bad habit of drifting away. We fail to give the attention to our Lord and the word of God that he deserves. Doing so, we are in danger of drifting away and neglecting God’s great salvation and his gifts. -Hebrews 2:1-4 In the live class I read those scriptures aloud. For space reasons, I encourage you to go read them along with the study.
God didn’t say except through his prophets through out the centuries. He enacted it through many of our familiar Bible stories or gave riddles, hidden speeches that depicted what would happen in that fateful day and season. Because it didn’t end with his death. (Christ)
He faithfully protected and brought the family lineage on through the centuries to Christ’s birth, life, ministry, crucifixion, death, burial, resurrection, ascension and now seated in authority at the right hand of the Father.
Father God is a faithful God. The Psalmist tells us God is a very present help in times of need. Psalm 46:1
- Mercy Seat Transaction & What It Has To Do With You
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
…15“Woman, why are you weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you seeking?” Thinking He was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.” 16Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (which means “Teacher”). 17“Do not cling to Me,” Jesus said, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and tell My brothers, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’ ”…
Can you see us right there in Mary? We have just heard, He didn’t come through for you that time. I can only imagine Mary’s thoughts. How can this be? We had such high hopes in him. We thought things were going to be different now…Now his body is missing! What is going on? Scripture tells us just as she’s crying and wondering what’s going to happen now.
Jesus stops by on his way to finish the transaction of heaven, where he once and for all he offers the ultimate sacrifice. He smears his blood on the Mercy Seat of heaven. He is called the great High Priest, the Propitiation, the First fruits of many and the last Adam, among other titles he holds.
I say it like that because I’ve been studying for a teaching called Beholding Jesus In The Bible. As I’ve been reading the whole Bible everywhere I see him foretold or fulfilled, I’m making a note of it. I think several Bible teachers have done it over the years. I haven’t read any of those works and probably won’t until I’m finished. It has become my m.o.
Before he could even finish, he heard Mary crying and stopped to comfort her. When she recognizes him, she drops to her knees at his feet. Hence the famous statement, “Don’t cling to me now Mary, I have yet to ascend to the Father.” Which is what brings it home to us, Jesus enroute of saving the world, stopped to see about Mary. He’s the same way about us, God’s people.
Because this heavenly transaction by our High Priest Jesus, we can come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16
- Through Christ We Are God’s Children
Through Christ God has reconciled us back to the Father. Through the fall of man through Adam and Eve, we became separated from God. Father God being the giver of life, he is not the one that wants to snuff us out. He is wooing and reaching for us that all men might be saved. He draws to repentance through his loving kindness.
The word of faith is this. God’s great plan of salvation is not some hard thing to go up to heaven to get or go somewhere deep to receive. It is right here right now. It is as near as even in your mouth and in your heart.
For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. –Romans 10:10
John 14:2 “By His rising from the dead, we are no longer separated from God but we are heirs of His household”.
Romans 8:15-17: “You have received a spirit of adoption, through which we cry, ‘Abba Father!’ The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God”
The Roman writer goes on to say, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. – Romans 10:13
Have you thought about how God weighs things? His thoughts are different from ours and his ways are not our ways. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be. In fact, one of the directives in the New Testament is, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things will be added unto you.” So, we are to look for His way of doing things and his righteousness in our lives and all other things are added unto us.
God is a god of order. When things get out of balance, he is always at work in the believer’s life to bring it back to order. Remember, He always has something better in mind. The Scripture reminds us, “He works ALL things together for the good of those who are called according to His purpose and that love him.”
To sum it up, remember God’s great plan of salvation is still active today. Again, through the book of Hebrews, the Holy Spirit call is ‘Harden not your heart while today is called today. The Mercy Seat transaction is complete. The Sacrifice was made once and for all. To become a member of God’s household,
Amen!
