6 More Awesome Things Every Christian Should Know About Their God Assigned Angels

Continue in brotherly love. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those in prison as if you were bound with them, and those who are mistreated as if you were suffering with them.… -Hebrews 13:1, 2 Berean Standard Bible

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. 29But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. Story of Good Samaritan Luke 10: 25-37

The Biblical Angelology study was launched previously from our GCC podcast at the beginning of Pandemic season. Father God gave it to me to comfort the people of God and to let them know and reinforce that He lovingly cares for us. So, the study was not designed to compete with the sensationalism about angels. It was and still is aimed at building our faith as believers and God’s people that he really does take care of us, even when we don’t understand the difficult circumstances.

We started the season of Sunday Sermons with ‘Grace and Peace Multiplied’ I love it when the Holy Spirit brings us full circle in the teaching. It’s a confirmation to me that we are on the right track in study. The Apostle Peter explains how to make our calling and election sure. He instructs us to partake of God’s divine nature. It has everything to do with living a life of godliness and God’s goodness. He tells us about some virtues to add to our faith.

Starting with God’s goodness, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, BROTHERLY KINDNESS, and love. My point is Father God has equipped us, helped us to become more and more into the image of Christ. He’s given us his love letter, the Bible, His Son Jesus, His Holy Spirit to help us. We have the church, the community of God’s people. And now, not a new fact, but with fresh awareness and faith, the heavenly host of angels according to Hebrews 1:14 sent as ministering spirits for the heirs of salvation. Without anything further, let’s talk about six more things every Christian should know about their angels and what they are sent to help us do:

  • Live victorious in Christ. God’s angels assigned to the heirs of Salvation, co-heirs through Jesus. The book of Hebrews writer describes them as ministering spirits. He had earlier described them as wind and his ministers of flame. I say often the whole church from front to back is designed to help us grow up in the faith. Every pastor, teacher, elder, servant leader all have one message to present and act out. Which is one reason of many that God warns us in Scripture to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Besides that it’s a precious right that not everyone enjoys in this world even now in the current millennium. So, simply put God’s angelic host are designed to help us walk in His victory in this life, not just make it to heaven. They are part of the heavenly hedge designed by God to take care of his people. Luke 4:10 For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully.

  • Avoid enemy traps, detours…Many times our angels are dispatched to warn of danger, traps or setups to detour our general life or our destiny path. You know what God has ordained us to do from the foundations of the world, the Bible says. The good works he has lovingly planned for us to be busy with and do. Have you faced any detours or snares of the enemy lately? Be encouraged that Father God has angelic detail ready to help in times of need. You need only pray to heavenly father God in Jesus name to receive by faith the angel help you need. In Psalm 91, they are given charge to keep us in all our ways. Don’t get me wrong, I believe we are cared for often even when we don’t know it.

  • Watch for our God inspired words. Daniel in the Bible the angel said, “I was sent the first day you began to pray, ending with, “I came for your words.” Angels watch for our words. But not for just any kind of words. The words that are aligned with God’s word are the ones they fulfil and act on. Sometimes, it can be a challenge to make sure our words align with God’s word. But it can be done. It takes practice and giving diligent attention to reading God’s word. The discipline of meditating and studying God’s word are important. I would say it’s a worthy life long pursuit. Remember, Scripture instructs us in Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. And again in 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”

  • Fulfill our God given calling and destiny. After studying destiny for so many years and observing that many of us never quite make it to these works. At 40 years I began to question if it would every happen for me. I saw so many dying without reaching an awareness of it, their destiny. It was rare to hear anyone say, ‘I believe this is what I am supposed to be doing in life.’ The Ephesian writer said it best, For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. –Ephesians 2:10

Without going into further detail about that. Angels are also active in this endeavor, fulfilling destiny. They are dispatched and sent to warn and even avoid some trials in life. When the Apostle Paul was sent to one city to another by ship under heavy guard. The ship came into treacherous waters by storm. When it looked like the ship would go down. An angel appeared to him and encouraged him that he would make it to their destination and bear witness before the rulers of the land. He also let him know the ship would go down but he would be spared and all that were on the ship with him. It came about just as the angel said it would.

  • Finish our course well. One of my earlier post, ‘The Spirit of the Finisher’ I talk at length about how Father God wants us to finish well. Apostle Paul’s famous words, ““I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” appears in 2 Timothy 4:7 Our angels, the ministering spirits sent for the heirs of salvation aid in finishing our course well. Before his death on the cross and resurrection, Jesus was ministered to by angels.

  • Do the Great Commission of Christ. Finally, Jesus standing on a hill top has his hands raised in blessing over about a couple hundred of his disciples. He made it through the cross, his death, burial, resurrection and then ready to ascend back to the Father. In final words he said to the disciples, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” –Matthew 28:16–20 Words that have gone through the centuries to now his modern-day disciples. The great commission is the same.

I pray this little study of biblical angelology has brought a fresh awareness and faith to you of God’s special care of us through his angels. In the book of Hebrews the first chapter starts with a couple of special mentions of our angels being ministering spirits sent to minister to the heirs of salvation. As you may know, when you are born-again, believing in your heart and confessing Jesus as Savior, you become an heir of salvation. Through Jesus Christ, we are a member of God’s household.

As my disclaimer states, we don’t worship angels. But we can know and grow in faith that Father God has given us angelic help. It’s a part of the heavenly hedge and a whole host of reasons, we can believe more and more that Father God is a very present help in times of need.

I hope you were encouraged as I was to know that they are also sent to help us live victoriously in Christ, to avoid many traps, detours and schemes of the enemy, they are motivated and activated by our faith filled (word of God aligned) words. Furthermore, they are sent to help us fulfill God’s call on our lives, finish our course well and impact the lives of others for Christ.
