God's Recompense by Pastor Earma at Grace Covenant House

For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion. -Isaiah 34:8

The Days of Recompense have come…

Dr. Roberts, the founder of Oral Roberts University was a spiritual father to one of our previous pastors. He came to speak at our church often back then. We hosted him (Dr. Roberts) many of those times as armorbearers. Meaning we were assigned to serve him, drive him around anywhere he wanted to go and generally take care of what he needed. We found him to be what most people in the faith, knew him to be a prayerful, quiet kind of man.

Even though, we were just servants, we treasured those times spent with him–helping him. One particular time, our leaders were out of town at a state championship event through our Academy school teams. We were asked to host him longer than normal. We were trained by the Lord and our leaders to not act star struck over any famous guests. According to him we were trained so well, he wondered if we knew who he was? We started naming all the things we heard he had done. He said, Oh, okay. That was funny to me. My point in telling this little story is about God’s faithfulness to me, his recompense.

After an earlier season of trouble in my life, Father God granted me a faithful, caring husband that I did life with. After the weekend was over and we were at the airport and waiting for his flight. My husband is serving Dr. Roberts noticing he seems a bit wobbly. He had already instructed me, Dr. Roberts is your grand-father. I know you loved your grand-pa and served him. Anything you would do for your grand-pa, you offer to do for Dr. Roberts. So, he’s saying to Dr. Roberts, not taking no for an answer, I’m going to get you a chair. That terminal is a long way down. So, you sit here, Earma is your grand-daughter. She’s going to sit here and talk to you, keep you company til I get back. He rushes off to get the chair. Dr. Roberts turns to me and says (seriously), where did you get a man like that?

I chuckled and said, he’s a God-send. I didn’t even try to tell him my story of how God said, “Yes, I’m sending you a husband but I’m doing the choosing…” So, all I’m saying is, God is a faithful God. He says, he always recompense. If you are a child of God and have had a season of trouble or trial, then you have a recompense coming your way. Begin to expect it. I’m serious. He will repay you.

Marilyn Hickey tells the story of her daughter and their experience with Jehovah Gmolah, the God of Recompense. She said her daughter had such persecution, trial and trouble during her Senior year of high school. She wondered what it was about. She felt such pain for her daughter going through it. But God showed himself in their life as Jehovah Gmolah. The God who remembers. Her first year of college was the complete opposite. She got scholarships, awards, made a lot of new friends and got married. In other words, Father God showed himself faithful to reward their faith in the coming years. As he will do you, if not already.

Jehovah Gmolah – He is a God of Recompense. He doesn’t waste trouble or pain. Not only is it his way to repay those who trouble you with trouble. But he will make it up to you as a reward of your faith. So again, if you’ve been going through a season of trouble, get ready! Stay in faith, keep expecting things to get better. I’ve gathered a few thoughts to encourage you and build your faith to expect RECOMPENSE from your Father God in Jesus name.

Building Our Faith In God’s Recompense using the T.R.U.S.T. acronym:

T stands for Timing For every purpose there is a time (season) Ecclesiastes 3. There’s a time for everything under the sun, says the Ecclesiastes writer. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and…Ecc. 3:1-8

R stands for Remember (God Remembers – He is not unjust to forget) Hebrew 6:10 for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister.

U stands for Unexpected – In God’s recompense and restoration He will give the people of God some suddenlies. Most of my messages I confirm that God has an expected end on reserve for us. He has good plans not for evil. He has an expected end designed for us and a bright future. Jer. 29:11

S stands for Savior Psalm 149:4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.

Psalm 149:6,7 May the high praises of God be in their mouths, and a double-edged sword in their hands, o execute vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples,
Jer 51:56 God is a god of Recompense. (God is often portrayed One who comes in vengeance and with recompense or payback to save his people from their oppressors,

T stands for trouble, it’s God’s way to trouble those who troubles his people. “Y’all better ask somebody if you think he won’t…” Romans 12:19-21 King James Version (KJV) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

I hope ‘God’s Recompense’ was an encouragement to you. Remember to trust God’s timing more and more, believe that he will remember(He always recompense), expect the suddenly for good, know that He is a savior w/ vengeance for those who trouble us, and it’s his way to trouble those that trouble us.
