Our spiritual ancestors peered wondrously into the future trying to imagine what it would be like when Father God fulfilled his promise of things they prophesied like his great salvation and the pouring out of his Spirit upon all flesh. For the Jewish people, they tried to imagine a day when the Messiah would come. The word of God says even the angels were and are eagerly watching God’s plan unfold. 1 Peter 1:10-12
As humanity we all have preconceived notions about God and his wonders. And we all have a bad habit of drifting away. We fail to give the attention to our Lord and the word of God that he deserves. Doing so, we are in danger of drifting away and neglecting God’s great salvation and his gifts. -Hebrews 2:1-4 In the live class I read those scriptures aloud. For space reasons, I encourage you to go read them along with the study.
I read a documentary piece not long ago about just how short our attention span (as a whole) has gotten. I think its down from seven seconds to five seconds. Knowing the importance of words I’m not claiming or receiving that for me and you. Our attention span is just fine, as long as it needs to be. (smile) Anyway, the Jews were no different. For many of them missed him when the time was finally fulfilled as Jesus put it. Then he said, “Believe the gospel.”
The Apostle Peter preached that the day had finally come, “Repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” It’s still at that point today as I say afresh, if not already, repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Don’t tune me out now because I said repent. Keep reading I have more to say…
You have been honored to live in this day and age. So, harden not your hearts, while today is still called today receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Additionally, there will come a time when the open door will close and will not open again. Remember, Noah and the eight souls of his family were the only ones who believed and entered the Ark. All those years of building and preparing were finally over and the door closed. The people outside the Ark, wept and pleaded bitterly but the time was past. The door did not open until after judgment had fallen. My friend again while today is called today, we should repent, be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
With all of that said, let’s dive into the excerpt from the lesson I taught in Wednesdays In The Word. You know I ended up delivering it several times in different formats. I tested the systems for Facebook Live, Facebook Audio Live, Youtube recorded and live. The live Youtube is the only one that didn’t come through. In the future, I’ll choose the platform I get the most response from or the one the Holy Spirit chooses. As I get help, I may just do them all. Since, I actually believe this technology was created to spread the gospel. Without further ado, here are those five glorious reasons to receive the Holy Spirit now.
5 Glorious Reasons To Receive The Gift Of The Holy S.P.I.R.I.T. Now
S. Sent One. We’ve been learning that the Holy Spirit reproduces the life of Christ in every new believer. He was sent to do that. So, we can say He is responsible for every new birth in Christ (being born-again) We, You and me were born of God by the Holy Spirit. He was sent also to reproduce the ministry of Jesus in every Believer that asks. Remember Jesus said to his first group of disciples and now this charge echoes down through the generations to us, “I will not leave you as orphans. Don’t be afraid…But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John 14
P.` Paraclete – Greek word for advocate or intercessor; parakletos – !. summoned, called to one’s aide, esp. called to one aid. a. one who pleads another’s cause before a judge, a pleader, counsel for defense, legal assistant, an advocate; b. one who pleads another’s cause with one,m an intercessor. , of Christ in his exaltation at God’s right hand, pleading with God the Father for the pardon of our sins.; c. in the widest sense, a helper, succourer, aider, assistant. of the Holy Spirit destined to take the place of Christ with the apostles (after his ascension to the Father) to lead them to a deeper truth and give them divine strength needed to enable them to undergo trials and persecutions on behalf of the divine kingdom.
I. Immersion – Baptized In Mark 1 and John 1, the Baptist proclaimed that Jesus will baptize in the holy Spirit, while in Matthew 3 and Luke 3, he will baptize with Holy Spirit and fire. Jesus is the first person to receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit. Baptism is Greek word baptizo which means to immerse or to submerge in water. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist in water for our example to follow. Find some water (ocean, lake, river, swimming pool or warm bathwater, etc. will do) Anyone can baptize you, if already a spirit filled believer.
R. Reception – Receive God’s gift. You know every good and perfect gift is handed down from above. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Ask God to give you the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened to him that knocketh it shall be opened…how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 11:9,10,13b Ask, by praying to God using your voice to ask for the Holy Spirit. Be prepared to be transformed and speak in tongues by the power of the Holy Ghost, as the early disciples did. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:4) See the prayer suggestion at the end of this blog to pray right now or keep reading. I have more to say.
I. Iglesia – We have good work to do as believers. Your local church body needs you to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. We need your calling, your gift to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. He needs you exceling in giving. God’s work needs to be funded, His local Church, his mission, his good work that he designed for you to do. Just like Jesus told the early believers and disciples, don’t go out without this endowment that I’m going to send. it will make you able to become my witnesses locally, in the region and throughout the earth. The spirit of man is willing but the flesh is weak. It’s Father God’s provision for the church, the body of Christ.
T Tongues. After being filled with the Holy Spirit, get ready for it to be evidenced by speaking in tongues. In Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. In receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, you receive the ability to pray in a heavenly language, speaking mysteries to God for your edification. You are, in essence, as the Scripture says building up your most holy faith by praying in the Spirit or by praying in tongues. Now, don’t get all scared on me and go weird because of what you heard about ‘speaking in tongues’ In previous webcast lessons and teachings, I’ve lifted up my hands in faith and prayed in tongues on camera. But for the most part, I use my heavenly language between me and God. I pray in the Spirit often, if not daily at times. And let me tell, this is one of those times that I’ve had to lean on my Father God and trust him. So, daily I’ve been seeking him and praying in the Spirit…
I close with a little testimony of after praying in the Holy Spirit. He prompted me to read and pray Jeremiah 33:3. I call it God’s number, one of his secret phone lines. I encourage you to go read it but it basically says, ‘Call unto Me and I will shew you great and remarkable things about your future that you did not know.’ So, I prayed the Scripture as a prayer. I have often prayed it over the years and I am floored everytime Father God shows me something I did not know. Just to let you know it was before I had written or published any books. This time, Father gave me this beautiful sign.
It was quite a few years ago. Like I said there were no books written or published yet. The idea had not even come to me yet. I was really discouraged that week that I prayed the prayer. So, I was just praying in the Spirit a lot. One day, after one of those prayer sessions, the Holy Spirit said go look up Jeremiah 33:3 and pray it as a prayer. I did.
A few days later, in the tree service there were only five calls. Right in the middle were two calls. Two calls were from two different women that didn’t know each other. They both wanted tree service and both were named Christian Author. They both pronounced it Christian Author but the spelling was different. The first one was spelled Christen Awther and the second was Christian Auther. It was so remarkable that when I called them back, I asked each to spell out her name. Even though, it was on the caller id I just wanted to make sure. Anyway, God gave me that insight into my future before I became an author or Varn for that matter. Because, as you may know before he passed away, he had written seven books as well.
So, if not already I hope I’ve managed to make you quite hungry to receive this gift of the Holy Spirit that the Father sent to help us. If so, pray like this, Father, I repent of all my sins, I believe Jesus was crucified, buried and rose again for me. I believe on Jesus. I acknowledge him as my Lord and Saviour. Now, just like Pastor Earma told me and showed me in the word of God, I ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Please, baptize me in your Holy Spirit. I receive it by faith. I raise my hands in faith and speak your words as the Holy Spirit gives me the ability. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
